1. The Hydropolis Underwater Resort Hotel, Dubai

This project is still underway and there are plans for the hotel to be 20 meters below the surface of the Persian Gulf off of Dubai. The hotel will feature three parts: the land post, where visitors will be greeted, the connection subway, which will convey individuals to the center place of the hotel, and the 220 suites found in the underwater leisure complex. These 220 suites will be bubble-shaped, with clear glass comprising both the sleeping area walls and the bathtubs. It is one of the biggest modern construction projects in the entire world, having 260 hectares and with 1,000 sq. metres it will have the underwater hotel, restaurant and spa.

2. Poseidon Undersea Resorts, Fiji

This five-star property is located under the sea off a private island in Fiji. The resort offers hotel rooms and suites, a bar, gym, restaurant and undersea wedding chapel.

There are activities abound for adventurers who wish to explore the unimaginable, like maneuvering a personal Triton submarine through a lagoon, exploring the ocean’s depths as the passenger of a 1,000-foot luxury submersible, and scuba diving in pristine waters. Those who seek solitude will find the time to relax while indulging in marine-focused spa treatments and meditation under the gaze of only the moon and stars. Whether traveling alone, as a pair, or in a group, you will find what you seek.

3. The Water Discus, Dubai

The Water Discus Hotel in Dubai is intended to provide a luxury accommodation option for anyone who wants to settle down on the sea bed.

Construction on this new underwater complex is still underway and there is still no set opening date. The plans are to have a 1,000 sq. metre complex that will be able to host a hotel, restaurant, spa and bar. Being an underwater hotel there will also be opportunities to go diving and snorkeling.

4. Manta Resort, Tanzania

Sleep with the fish in your underwater suite off the coast of Tanzania. Guests can enjoy the sun through the day above the water at the Manta Resort, before heading four metres under the water to the underwater suite. Underwater spotlights reveal the wonders and sea life under the ocean.

5. The Apeiron Island Hotel – Dubai

The new hi-tech and futuristic Apeiron Island Hotel is a 7-star hotel in Dubai that is still waiting to be completed. There will be 350 luxury rooms and 28 floors with the top two floors containing a jungle with butterflies and other insects. The hotel entrance will have boat parking and there will be an underwater restaurant that will have tropical fishing swimming past as you eat.

6. Huvafen Fushi – Maldives

The Huvafen Fushi is located in the Maldives and is considered one of the best underwater resorts in the world. There are pristine waters below your ocean bungalow’s glass floor and the resort also has an underwater spa, restaurant and nightclub that is open till the early hours of the morning. The resort also has a private submarine that will take you between sub-aquatic destinations.

7. Hilton's Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Resort, Maldives

This five-star hotel in the Maldives is home to whale sharks, manta rays, dolphins and turtles; Conrad Maldives is set on two islands and is reached by a 30-minute seaplane flight. The resort was included in Conde Nast Traveler’s 2013 Gold List of the Best 100 Hotels in the World and The Wold’s 10 Best Beach Hotels.

Select from 11 restaurants and bars including Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, the Cheese Bar featuring 101 of the world’s best cheeses, and an underground Wine Cellar with 20,000 bottles of fine wines. Relax at one of two spas or on the beautiful white sand beaches. Go diving and exploring on the many excursions available, including a mini-submarine ride to enjoy the vibrant coral reef.

8. ReefWorld, Australia

This unique underwater and floating hotel is located near Australia's majestic Great Barrier Reef and it features an underwater spa, eight underwater suites and glass-walled bathrooms, providing guests with the unique chance to spend a night at the Great Barrier Reef. From the underwater observatory, and see schools of tropical reef fish and amazing coral formations, or you can try getting closer by diving or snorkelling in secure diving areas.

Relax on the large sundeck with boundless views of the surrounding reef systems, or use the tailor-made viewing area to see the massive Queensland Groper living beneath the platform.

9. Jules' Undersea Lodge, Florida

Located nine metres under the ocean in Florida's Key Largo, this property is the only underwater hotel in the United States. Guests must scuba dive down to their rooms. Jules’ Undersea Lodge, named after the author of the famed maritime tale 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, is the world’s first underwater hotel and the only one in the United States. Originally built in the early 1970s as a ground-breaking research lab off the coast of Puerto Rico, the Lodge has been in business in Key Largo, Florida since relocating there and opening its hatch to the public in 1986.

The entrance to the hotel is 21 feet underwater and guests must scuba dive down to their rooms, so if guests aren’t certified they will go through a 3-hour crash course in scuba diving before going to their room. The hotel has attracted past celebrities such as Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and former Canadian Prime Minister, Pierre Trudeau.

10. The Shimao Wonderland – China

Construction is underway on a five-star, 19-storey hotel that will be built underwater. The hotel is not hosted in a tropical location, but in an abandoned quarry. Visitors will be able to enjoy different types of sports activities, a spa, swimming pool and restaurant.
