Diwali is an important festival in India that is held annually. This religious holiday brings people together with happiness and celebration.

India’s Festival of Lights, known locally as Diwali, is a five-day celebration of varying traditions for people across the country. The festival takes place from mid-October to mid-November each year. For some, the date marks the anniversary of the death of religious leader and Swami, Dayanand Saraswati, while others focus on the attainment of Nirvana.

During the festival, homes are lit up with with lamps that stay on throughout the night, bringing light to the darkness. Fireworks are used to ward away evil spirits, and people gather together with family and friends to eat and bond.

Whichever purpose is being recognized in the different regions of India, Diwali is a time of joy and spirit that is difficult not to get caught up in.
