Top Ten Travel Tips:

1. Contact your bank and let them know you are leaving the country. You don’t want them putting a hold on your bank card when you are trying to withdraw money from a foreign ATM

2. If you’re travelling with your family, renting an apartment is a great idea. This way you will have your own kitchen and more room, which might mean less stress

3. Before you arrive at your destination, make sure to book your first night in advance

4. When you are out sightseeing, don’t bring all your money, passport and valuables with you. Leave it back at the hotel and take just enough money for the day

5. If you’re renting a car, you may need an International Driving Permit in certain countries

6. It’s a good idea to make photocopies of important travel documents and to have contact phone numbers for things like your credit cards or bank

7. Check your mobile provider about what international calling and data plan is best for you. You don’t want to return home with an unexpected hefty phone bill. Depending on how long you are away for, you may want to get a local SIM Card, so you can make local calls at lower rates

8. When you are in a country where English may not be the first language, try to learn a few simply phrases

9. Make sure to have travel insurance before you leave. You never know what could happen and it’s better to be safe then sorry

10. Make sure that your passport has at least 6 months left on it till it expires
