For being one of the most stable and the fastest growing countries in Latin America, Chile has attracted a lot of admiration globally. This global goodwill has boosted the country's profile as a major South America tourist destination. It is particularly loved for availability of adventure destinations. Below is a list of the country’s top adventure destinations

1. The Chilean Patagonia

Patagonia is a beautiful icy landscape that is shared between Chile and Argentina. It is home to some of the most spectacular species of Penguins - The Magellan Penguins. The icy formations are great for hiking, ice fishing, and skiing. The rivers and fjords formed by the ice are great for kayaking and sightseeing.

2. Atacama Desert

Sahara desert in Africa is more popular for its size, but it does not come even near to comparing in dryness with Atacama Desert of Chile. This beautiful landscape is great for photography and hiking. Be careful not to travel too far into the desert – in case of emergency, help may not be as near as you would like it.

3. Easter Island

First settled by Phoenicians and later by the Rapa Nui people, this UNESCO listed World Heritage Site never ceases to amaze people particularly due to the 887 extant monumental statues, called moai, created by the early Rapa Nui people. The island is so isolated to be inhabited. It is located about 900 kilometers off the coast of Chile

4. Cerro San Cristóbal

This is a hill located on the northern part of Santiago whose peaks are reached by either a cable car or a long hike. The hike will be worth it as the view of the city is spectacular. The hill features the Parque Metropolitano, Santiago’s largest public park as well as a zoo, a botanical garden and two swimming pools.

5. San Rafael Glacier

Located within the larger Laguna San Rafael National Park, San Rafael Glacier is only accessible via an aircraft or boat. The glacial formations are the stuff you see on the National Geographic documentaries - imagine documenting this yourself...
